Lukáš Miffek
Lukáš Miffek was born 1978 in Prague, CZ. He graduated Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied in studio of painting leads by Antonín Střížek, later by Michael Rittstein. He is a member of S.V.U. Mánes. He has been exhibiting since 2000. Amongst his most important collective exhibitions include Malerei tschechischer Künstler (2005-Steinhude, DE), Nová trpělivost (2007-Mánes, Praha), TRANSFER (2008-2009, WhiteBOX Gallery München, Dům umění Brno, Bohemian National Hall New York), The Normal Painting (2009-Mánes, Praha) or MY HOUSE IS YOUR HOUSE (2009-2010, Dresden, München, Praha) etc. Amongst his most important solo exhibitions include Fantomausova zahrádka (with K. Jerie, 2004-Galerie Millennium, Praha), About Women and People (2007-Galerie Via art, Praha) or Tenkej led (2008-Galerie Beseda, Ostrava) etc. Lukáš Miffek is one of the representatives of Czech narative painting based on the subject field of humour. That is why we can to include his art into a line of Czech grotesque painting issueded from 50s. There are two categories of his art work: ?clever? paintings which use wide and rich repertoár of historical, philosophical and social allusions (eg. painting Život je krásný / Life is beautiful), and the painting of ?comedian? which are based on situational humour (eg. painting Nakládačky / Pickled Ghurkins).
